Parts catalog

Lothal’s catalog is plain JSON in the repository’s data/parts/ folder, one file per category. Every number in it has a source.

File Category
antennas.json Video antennas
batteries.json Battery packs (LiPo and Li-ion)
buzzers.json Buzzers
cameras.json FPV cameras
capacitors.json Capacitors across the ESC input
connectors.json Battery connectors
escs.json ESCs
flight_controllers.json Flight controllers
frames.json Frames
gps.json GPS modules
guards.json Prop guards
motors.json Motors
propellers.json Propellers
receivers.json Receivers
vtxs.json Video transmitters

antennas.json holds video antennas only. A receiver’s antenna is part of the receiver’s entry.

Each file has a _schema note explaining its fields, then a parts list. Every part has:

Field What it is
part_id A unique id, such as motor_2207_1960kv.
name The name shown in the app.
category Which kind of part it is.
mass_g Mass in grams.
specs The figures the physics uses.
catalog Browsing information only (size class, intended use and so on), used for the finder’s filters. Never used by the physics.
source Where the figures came from. Required.

Some categories carry more. Parts that bolt on have a mounting block. Motors have a mount_pattern and a thrust_test, which names the propeller and voltage the motor’s thrust figure was measured with, so the thrust coefficient can be fitted from real data. A motor can also carry a validation block: independently measured points on a different propeller or voltage, which the thrust bench checks the model against.

A figure without a source is not added. Where a part is typical of its class rather than one product, its source says so, for example “representative 0802 whoop motor thrust table”. The _schema note in each file gives the details for that category.
