What Lothal does not model yet
Lothal covers designing and flying a drone in software. These things are outside it, or only partly inside it, in this version.
Off the drone
Section titled “Off the drone”- The ground kit: radio, goggles, charger, LiPo bag, tools and spare props. The Ground kit section is a placeholder. Your goggles decide your camera and video transmitter, your radio decides your receiver, and a 6S drone needs a 6S charger. Check those pairings yourself.
- Buying, assembling, bench-testing real parts, and repair. Lothal can tell you what to buy and print, and the config sheet lists what to set at the bench, but it does not follow you into the workshop.
On the drone
Section titled “On the drone”- Straps and pads, and soft mounts as parts, are marked soon.
- Receiver range is not estimated, because no receiver publishes the figures it would need.
- Filters. Lothal models a gyro and one simple filter, so it recommends no filter settings.
- The radio link and failsafe cannot be flown: there is no link to lose in the sim.
- Expo is stored for the config sheet but not flown.
- Drag has no moment arm, so where the mass sits vertically does not pitch the drone in fast forward flight, as it would on a real quad.
- Frame vibration is scaled from a reference frequency that has not been measured.
- Sim flies quads only. The frame designer can draw hex and octo layouts, but they are not flown.
- Tools in the drone view: Explode, X-ray and Measure are present but disabled.
Every number
Section titled “Every number”Some numbers are estimates and guesses, and are marked as such. See Guessed, sourced and measured.
