FAQ and troubleshooting

The builds are not code-signed yet. On the SmartScreen prompt, click More info, then Run anyway. See Download and install.

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway beside the message about Lothal. See Download and install.

Keep every file from the zip in one folder. The program needs liblothal_core.so next to it.

Lothal reads the first connected gamepad. If none is connected, it reads the keyboard instead. It switches to the gamepad as soon as one is connected. If it still does nothing, check that your operating system sees the gamepad. The right stick is pitch and roll, the left stick throttle and yaw.

Check the pack. Charge carries over between flights, and a nearly empty pack sags. Recharge it on the Battery page. Also check the Propellers row: if the hover throttle is high, the drone has little thrust to spare.

Sim flies quads only. A frame drawn with other than four motors is not flown, and the Frame row says so.

Lothal’s sim flies at its own full-stick rate. Set your rate on Config → Rates and the page shows how it compares. See Config.

Lothal needs at least 1024 × 600, and is laid out for 1280 × 720 or larger. If an overlay chart will not turn on, there is no room for it: make the window bigger.

It is in the trash, not gone. See Projects and saving.

The project menu’s Export build sheet… is not built in this version. Use Config → Sheet → Export sheet instead.

They are present but disabled in this version.

Section titled “Godot says a function or the GDExtension library is missing”

The Rust physics core is not in build/, or was built for another platform. Build it with cargo build --release in rust/ and copy the library into build/ before starting Godot. See Build from source.
